Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a unique system of hands on healing that allows the practitioner to harness and transmit energy through the hands, restoring balance and harmony within the body bringing relief to a wide range of phisical and emotional problems. It is a very simple but powerful form of healing that can enhance the quality of your life and has been used for thousands of years. Reiki is thought to have first been used by Tibetan Buddhist monks and was rediscovered, in the late 1800's, by Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist.
During its history of use, Reiki has aided in the healing of just about every known illness and injury.In addition, it can help to break unwanted habits,i.e. cigarettes, alcohol, drugs,etc and can also assist with weight loss.
A Reiki treatment will normally last fifty minutes to an hour the treatment will be carried out on a massage couch. The client will remain fully clothed during the reiki treatment. The reiki is carried out in a warm relaxed environment with soft lighting and soft background music creating a relaxed feel. The practitioner will place their hands on the cients body answering any questions the client may have. The hands are placed on the chakera areas and the practitioner allows his consciousness to melt with that of the clients. During the healing session the energy flows to different parts of the physical body in addition to the mental/emotional levels where the true source of the illness may be located. The practitioner will allow a certain amount of time for each hand position. Reiki cannot do any harm.It is a healing energy which only works for the good of the recipient as well as the healer.It will always be helpful.
Some individuals report being aware of no physical change at first, but then in one or two days, find some physical symptoms and changes within themselves. Others, within one session, report feelings of calmness, feeling more whole and balanced. Reiki treatment is also a wonderful adjunct to any other forms of treatment one may have.
